Personal Reflection
I feel I have grown considerably throughout this master’s program, becoming more skillful and knowledgeable about the teaching profession. In my undergrad courses at Bowling Green State University I was able to learn and practice the basic steps and procedures of teaching and learning; and I believe that is why they call it a Bachelor of Science in Education, because I was taught the fundamental ‘science’ of teaching. After completing the master’s program at Baldwin Wallace University, I feel I have mastered the ‘art’ of teaching and learning, hence the degree: Master of Arts in Education. The master’s courses took topics that I was already somewhat familiar with from my undergrad courses and examined them in further detail and depth; building on and broadening my base of instructional knowledge and competencies.
I thoroughly enjoy learning and love acquiring new knowledge and skills. In addition to regularly attending professional development courses, I plan on furthering my education by achieving a master’s degree in reading comprehension and literacy. I would also enjoy pursuing a degree in Early American History so that one day I can assist in the development and creation of effective social studies textbooks and social studies classroom resources and materials. I am an avid and lifelong learner, and I hope to share that enthusiasm with my students so that they too will feel the joy and excitement of learning.
